Tartan Media Productions was breathed into life back in 2005 by Mark Hunter after the surprising – to Mark at least – success of the tartanpodcast.
Tartan Media Productions has been ticking away steadily since then, working with clients as diverse as Scotland’s biggest conference for educators, Keep Scotland Beautiful, cancer charities housed in cute seaside towns, presenting social media training workshops via Business Gateway, educating Scotland’s markerters on social media and helping one of Scotland’s fastest growing on-line retailers increase their turnover by 80%.
No longer limiting itself to podcast production in Scotland, Tartan Media Productions operates as a new and social media boutique, consulting and training businesses of all sizes and sectors on how to best use social media to start and engage in conversation, address customer service issues, create online campaigns, built communities, implement social media outposts and organically improve their SEO.
Now that we’ve got the official, corporate sounding stuff out out the way, who is Tartan Media Productions?
The business basically revolves around Mark Hunter. He’s been podcasting since 2005, creating the indie Scottish music show, the tartanpodcast. He also created the Sleepy Sunday Show and still gets emails that border on begging letters asking him to bring it back.
A keen blogger since 2004, he went was one of the founding members of the world’s first magazine dedicated to the medium of podcasting, Podcast User Magazine.
His work with the magazine at first involved writing a column and designing the cover. After a while he was writing feature articles. And a little while after that he was Executive Editor. He learned a lot about writing copy during that time and gets a kick out of writing compelling and compulsive blog content for clients.
His role is to create social media strategies and social media training courses, whether to aid a client’s online communication, marketing or PR, or equipping clients to formulate their own social media marketing strategies.
He passionately believes that social media within a business context should be more than just trying to drive customers to the checkout, but rather should be about conversations, true social interactions.
He lives and breathes blogs, Twitter updates and Facebook Pages. He also specialises in social media training in Scotland, as a contractor and consultant to Business Gateway and Scottish Enterprise.
On top of that, he’s handy with a video camera.
A large part of the work carried out by Tartan Media Productions involves social media training, via hands-on workshops, how to use social media tools.
Featuring full or half-day courses, these workshops look at the languages of social media, from “tweets” and “likes” to “posts” and “RSS”, while allowing the participants the opportunity to engage with Twitter, create a blog and make a YouTube video.
We run quarterly courses in-conjunction with Business Gateway Lanarkshire and have created and faciliated bespoke hands-on workshop courses for Motherwell College.
We’re able to de-mystify social media and all of the geeky, nerdy, words and phrases that are often a barrier to entry for companies and business who realise they should be using social media, but don’t even know where to begin. We love plain English as much as you.
Part of the process following on from the workshops often involves us advising and consulting with you on how to create and manage a sustainable social media marketing/PR/community program.
…can we start talking now?
